Germany in the process of liberalization the EU’s energy market illustrated with an example of electric power industry

Summary/Abstract: The subject matter of the paper is focused on selected aspects of the German electric power market liberalization in the context of the EU’s electric power (and natural gas) market liberali-zation initiated in the 1990s. The shape of electric power industry in Germany before liberaliza-tion along with cases of abuse of dominant position in the sector by German energy concerns RWE and E.ON have been presented in the article. Furthermore, the article describes an impact of liberalization on German electric power market through the prism of change in the market structure.
