Summary/Abstract: Road transport is a leading player in freight transport in the European Union's land transport. Market requirements mean that service providers are obliged to continuously develop business opportunities, both technically (new trucks) and employees (investment in staff, training organization). The answer to the growing demands is a new approach based on ethical and environmental behavior - Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which because of its interdisciplinary nature encompasses both economic and non-economic benefits, not only for the enterprise itself, but also for internal and external stakeholders. The study indicated that despite the lack of knowledge of the theoretical foundations of CSR, transportation companies pursue its objectives in many ways. This is reflected in the organization of professional training for employees and drivers whose organization declares 70% of the companies surveyed. In addition, aspects that support the implementation of CSR rules include, among others, driver allowances, investments in high-rolling fleet of EURO and choice of transport route. On the other hand, companies not declare to work for the local community as well as in industry associations. This may be due to the nature of transport companies, whose main objective is to maximize profits.
