Making a living abroad as a factor for the development of the Bulgarian population in Bitolya and Prespa in the beginning of the 20th century

Summary/Abstract: The economic and political environment in Macedonia, especially after 1903, force thousands of Bulgarians to leave their country each year to make living abroad (the Bulgarian word ‘гурбет’ comes from the Arabic „gurbet“ which means foreign country). The Bulgarian population from Bitolia and Prespa was not a exception in this respect.
