Summary/Abstract: The study is devoted to the teacher’s obituaries published in the Bulgarian Exarchate‘s newspaper Novini ( Vesti/Glas) during its existence from 1890 to 1912. They are particularly important because they refer to the pivot of the Bulgarian intelligentsia in Macedonia under Ottoman rule. Thus formulated, the topic represents a novelty in Bulgarian historiography. In the course of the research, obituaries of teachers (43 male and 22 female) were identified, which were collected in a special catalogue. Based on their analysis, it is concluded that obituaries, as a kind of typified genre document, make a correction to the corresponding memoir documents, as they provide factual information about the names, age, education, appointment, death (causes, circumstances), etc. of the deceased. At the same time, the elements of the obituaries that created the posthumous image of the Bulgarian teacher are tracked: personal characteristics, professional biography, a description of the funeral, etc. The conclusion is reached
