Summary/Abstract: Poland's geopolitical situation after the end of the WW II had enormous impact on the situation of the Catholic Church there, especially its administrative structures. The new shape of state borders led to the loss of large parts of Lvov and Vilnius archdioceses, whose capitals now lay on Soviet Union territory. In turn, the adjoining of the Eastern German provinces made it possible to undertake the effort of building new Church structures.
