Summary/Abstract: The notion of the morphological knot appeared when modern language forms were interpreted from the historical point of view. The author supports the arguent that in strictly synchronic interpretation this notion is irrelevant. Such structures as; boski, pirack-i to which, traditionally, the morphological knot is ascribed, can be interpreted with the use of adequate morphological principles: cf. - bosk-i - bo(g-sk-i bo-sk-i (shortening by the phoneme o) ; piracki » pirat-k-i — pirac-k-i (consonant shift t : c) ; s or pira/t-ck-i -* pira-ck-i (shortened by the phoneme t).
