Prospects for research in historical linguistics

Summary/Abstract: The article presents problems in historical linguistics in these areas: a) research methodology and theory of describing historical linguistic processes; b) description of respective periods in the development of language; c) specific problems, such as developing synthetic historical dialectology; d) lexicographic works; e) source publications; and f) developing a new historical grammar of the Polish language and a new history of the language.
