An Analysis of Communication Technologies between Humans and Computers and Other Technical Devices

Summary/Abstract: The analysis of emerging technologies in the field of human communicationwith the computer is instructive. Before the advent of information technology tools, informationwas stored by means of handwriting, drawings and paintings. Nowadays computersalso process sounds and images, which can be recorded and created by devices suchas digital musical instruments, sound mixers and cameras. Communication between humansand computers has been greatly influenced by industrial control panels and synopticswitchboards; its origins are in the industrial control panels used in tandem with teletypetext. The development of this technology using electronic tools led to the creation of thegraphical user interface — GUI. Today, we are witnessing the development of multi-mediamethods of communication between humans and computers such as voice communicationusing natural language, and recognition of physical gestures and facial expressions.The use of 3D visualization, avatars, virtual reality — VR and augmented reality — AR isalso widespread. Systems of communication between humans and computers are nowextensively developed and, alongside the latest and most up to the minute digital devices,are based on knowledge of interpersonal communication.
