Approaches and methods in the study of effectiveness of local government hospitals in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the issue of the study of the economic effectiveness of hospitals owned or co-owned by local government in Poland. Theoretical approaches to understanding the essence of economic efficiency and the relevant economic analytical tools for gaining knowledge about the economic effectiveness of hospitals are the subject. The aim of this paper is to critique the applicability of various theoretical approaches to effectiveness studies and adequate methods of efficiency analysis in the case of local government hospitals in Poland.
