Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes memoirs of disabled war veterans published in a 1971 collection as an effect of a poll announced by the Ministry of National Defense. It constitutes a very interesting source for a research concerning (self)consciousness of disabled war veterans as well as their social and economic position in the communist Poland. Another particularly interesting area is the way their masculinity and male corporeality is narrated.
