Summary/Abstract: The subject of this publication are the migration trends of the population in Upper (North) Thrace during XVIII–XIX century (Bulgarian Revival) and the changes in the number and structure of the population, as well as its spreading on the mentioned territory as a result. Bulgarian historiography has not paid enough attention to this issue yet. For its more detailed and objective study, we have used the available so far demographic publications, regional surveys of various Thracian places and outlying parts, published sources of the issue, as well as materials taken from Bulgarian Revival press. The article deals with the different types of migration concerning the area (outer and inner, permanent and temporary), as well as the reason for them (economic, social, political, natural and geographical ones etc.). Various migration trends and participation of the different ethnical groups in them are discussed. As long as it is possible, the article reveals the importance of such migrations for the ethno-demographic development of Upper Thrace and the neighbouring regions included more or less in these processes.
