Summary/Abstract: This is the sequel of previous author’s article, which published in 1992. It is including the analysis of census in 1992 and 2001. The changes in the approach and the criteria of reflecting the ethnical structure of the population in Bulgaria at the censuses have been studied. All the censuses of population to 2001 have been enveloped. The following periods have been made: to 1880, from 1880 to 1900, from 1900 to 1946, from 1946 to 1985, after 1985. The periods to 1985 in detail have been discussed in previous article. Here only additional sources and materials have been used. They mainly clear up the using census definitions of ethnicity, mother tongue and spoken language. The period "after 1985“ includes the censuses of population in 1992 and 2001. The definition of ethnicity and mother tongue has been discussed, too. In 1992 the precision of responses of ethnicity questions have been controlled by representative sample. In 2001 according the low of census the responses of questions about ethnic group, mother tongue and religion has not been obligatory. Since 1900 all censuses generally have reflected 78 (whit variants – 91) names of ethnic and national groups, and 37 (whit variants – 41) names of languages (mother tongue or spoken language). The appendix of article contains tables of ethnic group and language names for each census. The number of persons belongs to every recorded ethnic and language group has been given, too.
