Summary/Abstract: Dealing with the experience of a chronic disease is a challenge a contemporary family meets. Caeliac Disease (CD) is one of them. The only way of treatment inCD is gluten-free diet adherence (GFD). This influences the psychosocial functioning of a family system. Social support may modify GFD adherence. The article aims to answer the question about the correlation between the perceived social support within families and the level of GFD adherence in CD. The research was carried out among 33members of Polish Association of People with CD and on the GFD, diagnosed with CD.The questionnaire of own authorship and the Polish version of The Significant Others Scale adapted by Z. Juczyński were used in the study. The perceived social support, both received and expected, did not show correlation with GFD adherence. Social support from the close ones in the research group does not modify the success in the treatment of CD.
