Summary/Abstract: The correct identification of the consumer request for a specific type of shoe, leads to a correct and real detection of the technical characteristics for the product design. The consumer requests are mostly unclear express, sometime contradictory and in some situation do not express a real need. Because of this, it is required analyse, selection and prioritization of them. Also, the customer demands must be express in technical language, in order to be easy understood by the specialists from the design and the products departments. The design technical characteristics must be measurable because they accompany the product along of its life cycle. The stage of the establishment of the interaction between consumer request and design technical characteristics is very important and can be very complicated because each request can affect more than one characteristic. In this stage, first are compare each request with each technical characteristic and second, should decide intensity for each relation. In order to reduce the workload and the processing time of dates, it is develop a software application which is able to analyse, to compare, to establish connection and to provide graphics, in a symbolic form. This graphics show if a connection exist or not between a request and a characteristic and also, the intensity of connection. The paper presents the software application which creates the correlation matrix between costumer requests and design technical characteristics. This matrix can be use to optimise the design process of the footwear product individually or like stage of Quality Function Deployment method.
