Summary/Abstract: The method of phraseological-semantic field is used in the article. On the basis of the method, phraseological units referring to the notion of ‘man’ are singled out and characterized. Firstly, the integral and differential semes of phraseological meaning are revealed, parts of the field are arranged, its main body, the center and the periphery are pointed out, the semantic character of the phraseological units’ combination within semantic groups and subgroups are discussed. Secondly, the author discusses the possibilities to link such lexical phenomena as synonymy, variability and antonymy within phraseological-semantic groups and subgroups, the continuity and the loss of the old phraseological units in modern Belarusian literary language.
