Summary/Abstract: Belgian theologian Edward Dhanis, discussing the development of dogmas, specifies three fundamental principles that should explain its essence. First of all: truths that become a clear object of faith must be at least implicitly included in the doctrine of the apostles so that they may constitute a faithful interpretation of faith; secondly, the truths which, through the development of dogmas, become the object of faith explicitly, should be contained in the revealed deposit at least in such a way that the Magisterium can discover them as truths for belief, without the need for a new revelation; thirdly: the truths which, through the development of dogmas, become a clear object of faith, should be included in the deposit revealed at least implicitly, as the subject of a formal testimony from God (l'objet d'un témoignage formel de Dieu). The concept of Edward Dhanis aims to show the complementarity of the intellectual path and vital development of dogmas. It is not enough to say that the development of dogmas takes place on the intellectual and conceptual level with the assistance of the "negative" Holy Spirit, whose role would be to "protect" from the final errors of logical human cognition. The progressive development of the revealed deposit of faith is also made through the positive influence of the faith of the whole Church.
