Summary/Abstract: The article discusses elementary methods and trends in Belarusian and Polish literature on the turn of the 19th century using the examples of the novels written by E. Orzyeshko, Tsiotka, Z. Byadulya, E. Zulavskiy. The relationship between realistic and modernistic movements, and elements of modernistic theme and poetry in realistic prose are investigated. The interplay of literary symbolism and impressionism is analyzed. Special attention is concentrated on the structure of impression and special manifestation of impressionism in symbolic miniatures.
