Summary/Abstract: By showing the nature of the Church in relation to the Holy Trinity and recalling the reference of the ecclesiastical communio to the Trinitarian Communion, the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church Lumen Gentium contributed to the deepening of the analysis of the Trinitarian character of the Church. The relation affects not only the nature of the beginning of the Church, but also refers to its permanent structure, according to the patristic theorem Ecclesia de Trinitate. This means that the Church is not only born of the Trinitarian mystery, but is also permeated by the Trinity; its structure is de unitate Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti plebs adunata. The teaching of John Paul II indicates that the Church reflects the Trinitarian communio in itself, walking in the direction of the Trinity. It is the place where God's trinitarian history meets the history of man. The Church is the presence of the Holy Trinity in time.
