Summary/Abstract: This article concerns the consequences of changes in the disabled employment subsidy in the protected and open labor market in Poland in years 2010–2014. Introduced in recent years restricting the use of tax credits by sheltered workshops and equal financing employment of disabled people with other employers led to the resignation of many employers from the status of a protected labor and a reduction by the sector of employment for people with disabilities. The granting large sums of wage subsidy for disabled workers to the ruling of the special conditions resulted in an increased interest of employers such persons with disabilities, both by sheltered workshops and by other employers In the years 2010–2014 the employment of people with special medical conditions increased by almost 70%, and in the case of disabled persons in total decreased by 8.5%. This indicates a dependence on employment of disabled people on the amounts of subsidies to their employment and to a greater extent by employers in the open labor market, than by sheltered workshops.
