Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to answer the question whether the situation on the labour markets of Member States is dependent on the state aid for employment in the context of the current economic crisis in the European Union since 2007. The authoress has attempted to verify the research hypothesis as follows: “State aid for employment is an important instrument to stimulate employment growth, however, is not determinative of significant changes on the labour market”. The following research methods: a critical analysis of the literature and legislation, statistical data analysis and inductive method have been used to achieve the research purpose and verify the hypothesis. In the course of the research the authoress positively verified the substituted research hypothesis, recognizing that the situation on the labour markets of the member countries was very diverse and a lot of factors had an impact on this, such as individual causes of the economic crisis and its diverse course in different Member States and different reaction of the authorities in the counteracting of unemployment, using for this purpose the amount and intensity of state aid.
