Systemic Support of SMEs in Reducing the Financing Gap

Summary/Abstract: This article presents a critical look at the issue of the financing gap, also known as equity gap, based on empirical data. Specifies the causes of the financing gap in the national economies. It indicates trends implemented in policies of different countries in attempts to abolish the barriers to the development of the SME sector. It also indicates the possible implications for financial gap as a result of solutions adopted by the European Union.
