Summary/Abstract: In order to carry out her mission effectively in the contemporary world the Church is obliged to present the God’s Words through speech; images and gestures in such a manner that they are easily understood. The relevant and good theory coming from the area of communication is a good starting point for reflections on the reception of communication theory in theology. This phenomenon shows the necessity to adjust the universal character of salvation message to a specific system of communication in a society. However, in this process theology has to protect the unchangeability and versatility of this message. The relation between a priest, the Scripture and a listener, who lives in a specific reality, determines the effectiveness of preaching but also the way of conveying the meaning, which is the message about salvation. In the situation when we talk about the crisis of the God’s Word, the remedy does not seem to be the language of media, excessive number of colloquial words and a homily as a show full of gadgets but the knowledge of the Scripture.
