Summary/Abstract: The article presents D. Hymes’s ethnography of speaking and C. Kramsch’s philosophy of conflict as interesting ideas in language teaching. The author attempts to describe how both theories can be adopted by teachers of Polish as foreign language, especially when they use Polish literary texts in class.
