Summary/Abstract: An increased number of foreign language speakers can be noticed in the television programmes produced by the Polish television channels. There are also Polish people on television for whom Polish language is not their mother tongue in the functional meaning for various reasons (i.e. mixed families, emigration in childhood). As non-native speakers they obviously make mistakes on different levels of verbal communication: systematic, situational, social. The character of analyzed mistakes and the celebrities’ attitude towards them reveal that the poor language skills can be used by the celebrities as a means of the media image creation.
