Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with 400 adjectives (1046 tokens) excerpted from the textbooks of Slovene as a foreign language Gremo naprej and Slovenska beseda v živo 2. The author presents the frequency of the given adjective samples from the textbooks and classifies examined adjectives into classes of qualitative, relational, and possessive. Firstly, she assumed that the qualitative adjectives could be more frequent than relational on the lower level of learning. However, the samples from the textbooks show that the relational adjectives were more frequent in more basic Gremo naprej than in Slovenska beseda v živo 2, in which the qualitative adjectives are more often used. The article describes the way of adjective representation in the textbooks (lexicon, grammar, the texts building, titles). The paper shows also cultural content transferred by the adjectives.
