Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to look at the role of the Polish language teacher in the process of teaching Polish pronunciation. It addresses the problems involving the basic rules of teaching phonetics, reactions to learners’ errors, error correction, and the linguistic norm. Separately, it emphasizes the qualities which a teacher should possess to encourage rather than discourage the students to exercise phonetics.
