Summary/Abstract: Stuckism and postfuturism are two different, but in a way similar concepts, both advocating redefinition of art in opposition to the dominant postmodernist canon. They are a reaction to postmodernist objectivity, which can’t respond to contemporary social problems. In this paper these concepts, not referring to music, will be associated with poetics of composers close to the ideas of New simplicity. Works of Gerald Barry, Arvo Pärt and Hans Abrahamsen can be seen as a reaction to postmodernism, and not any more as criticism of the complexity of modernism they had opposed to during its expansion.
