Summary/Abstract: Heiner Goebbels’s aesthetic of absence is based on the redefinition of traditional hiararhical relations of elements inside of genre of instrumental theatre. Moving between modernism and postmodernism, Goebbels develops conceptual platform with which he reconsider position and status of autor, artwork and artistic experience. This platform is connected with the idea of artistic representation of pure presentness, allowing divergent elements in process to become, in ontological sense, recreating their very existence. In this paper I will discuss the basic ideas of aesthetic of absence, with special emphasis on paradigmatic Goebbels’s work Black on White, Eraritjaritjaka and Stifters Dinge.
