Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the geopolitical inflammatory factors which may constitute apotential cause of further armed conflicts in the western part of the Balkans. The articleincludes two parts. In the first one, the author described the geopolitical sources ofconflicts in the western part of the Balkans, distinguishing both the geopolitical theoryand the current realities of the discussed area from the perspective of this theory. On theother hand, in the second one, particular geopolitical factors of potential conflicts in thewestern part of the Balkans were analyzed, distinguishing geopolitical sources ofconflicts such as borderlines and transitability, population diversity, crises of power and/or cohesion of states, rivalry between the power centers and collapse of thegeopolitical system and/or transformation of the balance of power.
