Summary/Abstract: History of distant education is interesting not only for historians. Back in XIX century correspondence courses appears in small schools and soon on universities. In XX century technology throw fast so many of inventions had huge influence impact in learning media and methods; therefore educational radio and television appears. Thanks to expanding computer and network technology, soon appear web-based and internet-based courses. E-learning is regarded as a ‘new’ form of learning that uses Internet to deliver customized, often interactive, learning materials and programs to all who need to learn. Nowadays many polish and abroad universities and educational institutions use e-learning in many forms. Article tries to show some of them with and their presence in contemporary education.
