Summary/Abstract: This article examines the political, social and cultural dimension of the international peacemaking mission carried out by the Allies at the end and in the aftermath of the First World War. In the focus of the analysis is the role of the U.S. Navy, particularly the warship "U.S.S. Olympia" - a flagship in Split but also symbol of U.S. imperialism.
