The current state of theological education in Russia

Summary/Abstract: This article presents a brief survey of Russian theological institutions of the present day and their educational activities. Along with church academies and colleges (seminaries), also lay scholarly and educational institutions are named and characterized, such as the Saint-Tikhon Orthodox University of Humanities (Moscow), “The Orthodox Encyclopedia” publishing centre (Moscow), and some others. Some space has been devoted to the present state of Catholic theological education. Special attention has been paid to periodicals and theological congresses held in Russia in the near past.
