Summary/Abstract: The paper concerns the selected determinants of success of the modern manager. After the presentation of the challenges faced by managers in modern times, the features and competences of manager have been focused on. Then the determinants of manager success in times of crisis have been described. The article ends with reflections on the need to create their own image of the managers, as requirement of modern, efficient management.
