Summary/Abstract: The paper concerns the problems of expatriates living and working in a culturally different environment. After the presentation of the definitions and types of the expatriate, problems of communication have been pointed out. Then the process of acculturation has been shown. Finally the difficulties and necessities of cultural intelligence development have been described.
