Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The aim of the article is to indicate the key aspects of the business models of railway sector companies, taking into account the concept of a reasonable profit. Research methodology - A wide review of the subject literature was carried out and practical implications relating to railway industry requirements in the area of business model design were indicated. Results – On the basis of the literature review and the author's observations and the resulting analyzes, the scientific problem was identified which is the shaping of business models conditioned by constraints resulting from the assumptions of the concept of a reasonable profit. The article presents the complex nature of the determinants of the iterative design of business models to maintain the assumption of a reasonable profit. Originality / value - In article indicated the key problem of pricing for selected services provided by en-terprises of the rail transport sector with the principles of a reasonable profit included in the configuration of business models of enterprises in this sector.
