Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of the research conducted in a big company operating in Poland. The research was aimed at investigating inefficiencies in motivating employees in the company. The first part of the paper explains that the development of theory and practice of management science is strictly combined with the identification of inefficiencies within collective forms of work organization. Next the paper presents inefficiencies in motivating employees. The main part of the paper presents the research methodology and findings concerning: motivational rewards, obstacles and stimulators of employee engagement, knowledge sharing and process formalization. The final part of the paper produces conclusions and practical implications, which refer especially to implementing normative motivation through surveillance within a company.
