Summary/Abstract: The article provides insight into some new aspects of language situation and languagepolicy of the period under discussion. The author examines 1) the political and legislativelevel of resolving the linguistic question in the context of national revival ideology in1917–1922; 2) the ideology of Soviet construction (since 1922) and the distinctive featuresof Ukrainisation; 3) the directions of linguistic studies and their development; 4) the politicalmotives behind the destruction of the Ukrainian linguistic science through discreditingand repressing linguists.
