The conceptualization of home by young Belarusians

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the first part of the article is to reconstruct the concept of home by means of a questionnaire. The basic conceptualizations of home include building, family and homeland. They become less straightforward by the connotations of protected, narrow, warm, quiet, private space. The symbolic value of home as a place created by a family is more important than the conceptualization of home as a building. The analysis shows that home remains crucial value for most young Belarusians. The individual conceptualization of Andrus Ghorvat in the static and dynamic aspects is discussed in the second part of the article.
