Summary/Abstract: Paper deals with the book paratext of the six Czech publishing houses in 90 ies years of the twentieth century. Typical characters of the Czech paratext communication are not only the slow grow of the peritext and a slow fixation of the peritext model in the books, but also the high number of the works which are filed into the publisher’s editions, low availability of the back book cover which is very frequented promotional or almost absence of the reference text from the reader acceptable leading.
