Summary/Abstract: Slavic threads which appear in detective stories by Marek Krajewski, essays and poetry by Andrzej Zawada, novels by Inga Iwasiów and novels and diary by Stefan Chwin have been analysed. The issue of Slavic character have been presented in the context of characters identities. The role of stereotypes connected with the Slavs has been indicated. The relationship of man to a place has been touched on. The way in which the writers make use of the notion ‘Slavic character’ as well as functions and tasks performed by the motif in a given literary work have been analysed.
