Summary/Abstract: This article was written in the course of a discussion within Charta 77 activists in Janu-ary 1979. Vaclav Havel argues in his essay "Trying to Live in the Truth" that it is more important for oppositional forces in Czechoslovakia today to seek truthfulness in every-day life and to live a "new spirit" instead of the "big ones" To dream things "in a" better future ".
