Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses body signs in the following structure: (I.) according to the body of the sign (the sign vehicle): non-verbal communication: 1. body characteristics: body type, appearance, weight, color of hair and skin, body and breath smell, etc. 2.complementary object (product, emblem) or cosmetics (perfume, lipstick) worn on the body, (II.) according to the intention of the communicator: 1. unintentional (natural), 2. intentional (artificial), (III.) according to the origin of signs: 1. prototypical, 2. deformed (universal), 3. intentional (culture-specific), (IV.) according to the function/aim of communication: 1. informality (concealment), 2. expressiveness (revelation). The paper discusses the areas of body communication, especially tattoo, and draws attention on the opposition of various characteristics of body communication (skin color, body transformation).
