The European Union energy balance

Summary/Abstract: As the entire world economy is based on energy resources the issue of energy security is nowadays one of the most important subjects of public debate. This is particularly important for the European Union, whose member states are largely dependent on import of raw materials. Continuity and safety of imports will provide a basis for the development of their economies, which is crucial in maintaining energy balance in the European Union. Dependence on imported energy resources in the EU’s countries varies, but presently there are visible trends towards an increase of energy imports as a consequence of the growing demand for energy.
