Summary/Abstract: We often speak about the Transylvanian press while being aware that the history of the late 19th-century Transylvanian press has not been written as yet. In order to investigate the two magazines published in Cluj in this period,it is very important to establish first of all the theoretical aspects and methodology of the research of Transylvanian press history. We must look at the history of the Hungarian press in order to determine the aspects that lie at the basis of the discussion of media history. Furthermore, we need to check another perspective too: the representation of the Transylvanian press the period, and the criteria used in assessing the position of contemporary media.
