Historical Destinies of the Thracians in Carpathian-Dniester Area

Summary/Abstract: The article studies cultural-chronological and spatial dynamics of the North Thracian area since the earliest times to the early Middle Ages with regard to the continuity of the Thracian cultural tradition. Each group of researchers appreciates this continuity in different degrees – from continuous gradual evolution (the so called theory of cultural continuity) to interrupted, discrete development of tradition. The latter seems to be more substantiated both from the point of view of cultural genesis in general and going by results of archaeological research and written records.
