Summary/Abstract: Purpose – To determine if there is a difference in the structure of bank deposits classified according to their size in cooperative banks. The hypothesis assumes that the structure of the deposit base in cooperative banks is indeed different in selected bank groups distinguished by the balance sheet total. Design/methodology/approach – T he research includes 2024 panel observations from 75 cooperative banks. These are quarterly data collected between December 2009 and March 2016. Arithmetic means of selected indices of the deposit base structure were used calculated according to the balance sheet total, and next on the basis of tests of difference it was determined if the differences between the means are significant. Findings – The research indicates that generally there are no differences in the structure of bank deposits between the banks selected due to the balance sheet total, and if they are observed indeed – though small in terms of absolute values – they are insignificant from the statistical point of view. Originality/value – The uniqueness of the paper derives from the researched entity as such since there are relatively few publications referring to the structure of bank deposits, not to mention the ones in cooperative banks.
