Sustainable development of Polish credit cooperatives based on the principle of localness

Summary/Abstract: Localness as a principle of functioning of the credit cooperatives can be defined traditionally as territoriality and currently as the existence of social bonds among members. The purpose of the article has to examine the scope of the restrictiveness of regulations of the local range of activities of Polish credit cooperatives − cooperative banks and co-operative savings and credit unions. The analysis of statistical data and documents of various institutions gave rise to the conclusion that both the principle of territoriality in cooperative banks and the common bond in Polish credit unions are not restrictive.
