Summary/Abstract: The present article briefly focuses on archaeological excavations organized between 2009and 2013 and in 2015 in the city of Gheorgheni (Harghita County) and its surroundings: the fortification ofBoth (dated to the thirteenth century), the medieval St. Nicholas Roman-Catholic church, and the Austrianquarantine located at about 12 km north of the city of Gheorgheni and north-east from Pricske Peak (1545 mhigh). The systematic researches in these three sites were preceded by investigations based on non-destructivemethods. These enabled specialists to verify and combine the results of georadar and magnetometric measurementswith information provided by archaeological excavations. The researches included 3D reconstructionsof the landscape and of certain architectural structures, aerial photographs as well as AMS measurements ofseveral samples. The correlation of all the results with information from written sources has made possible thereconstruction of the main stages in the development of the settlement located on the bank of Creek Belchiaduring the Middle Ages and at the beginning of the Modern Period.
