The Assessment of the Sources of Financing the Health Care System

Summary/Abstract: The growing demand for health services and the continuing shortage of financial resources necessary to finance them motivate the consideration of the sources of funding for health services. These services have a special place in the collection of goods and services consumed by the society. They address the most important human need for good health. Therefore, access to them cannot depend only on personal income but there must be respected also the principle of fairness. Considering the possible sources of funding for health services, the paper pays attention to their impact on the efficiency of the utilization of the service potential of health care providers, the creation of the demand for health services and their financial performance (the possibility of generating certain financial measures from the particular sources).
