Summary/Abstract: The novel Lanark, by Alasdair Gray, has a complex, labyrinthine architecture, consisting of two identity layers that pertain to a character who appears to be sleep-walking between two worlds: Glasgow and Unthank, the real city and the avatar city. Fictionalization is accomplished through a series of elements borrowed from various conceptualizations about the posthuman.
